Policies
Cancellation or Missed Appointment
If you are unable to make your scheduled appointment, 24 hours’ notice is required. Insufficient notice will result in a charge half the session’s cost to the client.
Confidentiality & Privacy Policy
As a counsellor, I am ethically and legally obligated to ensure your privacy and confidentiality as my client. The law protects the relationship between a client and counsellor, and information cannot be disclosed without written permission from the client.
Exceptions include:
- If a counsellor suspects child abuse or dependent adult or elder abuse they are required by law to report this to the appropriate authorities immediately.
- If a client is threatening serious bodily harm to another person/s, counsellors must notify the authorities and inform the intended victim.
- If a client intends to harm themselves, counsellors must make every effort to enlist their cooperation in ensuring their safety. If they do not cooperate, further measures will be taken without client’s permission to ensure client’s safety.
- If a counsellor is subpoenaed to court they are required by law to provide the requested documents
Children’s Consent
When working with children, it is my policy to require both parents to give written consent to treatment. I will provide you with this form prior to meeting with your child for the first time.
